Venicemarathon
The Venice Marathon by now has conquered a place of great importance amongst the sport event of the city.
It is a sport event of international attention: it attracts every year more than 6000 participants coming from all over the world.
The marathon has the official Olympic length of 42 km and 195 meters. The route is mainly flat and it departs from Stra and it runs along the splendid Riviera of the Brenta, passing in front of the magnificent villas built by Palladio.
The participants arrive in Venice via the Ponte della Libertà that connects the city to the mainland. The contestants cross the Grand Canal on a flat bridge of boats long 160 meters made for the occasion.
The runners pass near Saint Marc Square and head towards Riva Sette Martiri, where the arrival is set in panoramic position in front of the lagoon.
